Viva Brasil in Ōtautahi is a vibrant, family-friendly celebration of Brazilian Independence, culture and community. Join Momentum and MOVE for an afternoon filled with Brazilian rhythms, culture and plenty of opportunities to move, connect and have fun.

Whether you are Brazilian, love Brazilian culture, or simply want to experience something new, everyone is welcome. No dance experience is needed, just come ready to enjoy the rhythms, stories and energy of Brazil.

Talita Tavares

Talita is a Brazilian dance and movement educator with over 20 years’ experience teaching partner and social dance in Brazil, Spain, and Aotearoa New Zealand. Trained across Samba, Salsa, Forró, Bolero, Tango, Soltinho, and Zouk, she co-founded a large dance school in Brazil and completed specialised teacher training programs. Talita’s classes are welcoming to all levels, combining clear, beginner-friendly instruction with depth and musicality for experienced dancers. She weaves in mindful movement and grounding practices to foster confidence, connection, and joy, helping students feel expressive, safe, and at home in their bodies through dance.
