Physical Theatre Foundations

This class invites you to use your body, voice, and imagination to express emotion, character and narrative in creative ways.

Open to all levels, sessions begin with gentle, embodied warm-ups before moving into playful exercises, partner work, and group exploration. Along the way, you’ll discover techniques inspired by leading physical theatre practitioners while building confidence, awareness and connection with others.

Whether you’re new or experienced, this is a space to move, create, and grow together.

Blaise Barham & Sarah Barham

Blaise Barham (MA, Dip Grad & BA Hons Theatre) is an award-winning director, performer, and educator, and co-founder of Sahara BreeZe Productions and Experimental Theatre Collective. Trained internationally with Philippe Gaulier, Zen Zen Zo, and Dairakudakan, he specialises in contemporary and physical theatre, blending movement, circus, and comedy. Blaise has toured nationally and worked with SGCNZ Shakespeare Globe finalists. Passionate about sharing his skills, he creates inclusive classes that build confidence, creativity, and connection, supporting participants of all backgrounds and abilities to explore movement, performance, and collaboration in a fun and welcoming way.


Sarah Barham is an award-winning director, actress, dramaturg, and playwright, and co-director of Sahara BreeZe Productions and Experimental Theatre Collective. Trained in theatre at the University of Otago, and in physical comedy and theatre with Ecole Philippe Gaulier (Paris) and Zen Zen Zo (Brisbane), Sarah brings creativity, playfulness, and skill to everything she does. She has toured nationally with productions including Wonderful and Dark Radio, and performed in roles such as Lyubov Ranevskaya in The Cherry Orchard and Prospera in The Tempest. Sarah is passionate about fostering connection, imagination, and joy through performance and theatre.
