Come and enjoy a simple, fun partner dance that’s easy to pick up! This modern jive class is perfect for anyone looking to feel confident on the dance floor, get active, or try something new. We move at a relaxed pace to a lively mix of modern pop classics that keep the music flowing.

Come on your own or with friends – rotate partners or stay with the one you came with, whatever feels comfortable. We start from the very basics each class, making it easy for newcomers or anyone joining partway through the term.

Open to all ages and abilities, this class offers a fun, friendly space where you’ll leave feeling connected, confident, and ready to dance with ease.

This is an approved community group strength and balance class.

Deb Robinson

Deb has been sharing the joy of social partner dancing in Christchurch for over 20 years alongside her husband, Matt. Beginning with ballroom dance in high school, she later discovered modern jive – a fun, accessible style that invites connection and self-expression. Deb now teaches dance full time and regularly competes and judges internationally. She believes dancing is for everyone and that you don’t need to be “good” at it to feel the benefits. Her classes are welcoming, social, and focused on building confidence, connection, and the simple joy of moving together.
