Contemporary Dance with Soma Studios Julia Mckerrow

This class is designed for movers with previous dance experience. Julia offers an integrated practice blending technical rigour with creative freedom.

Somatic Movement will be integrated with Groundwork to foster deep body awareness, utilising the floor and breath to find skeletal integrity and release unnecessary muscular effort. Julia incorporates the qualities of Release Technique with principles of Hawkins Technique (initiation and dynamic alignment).

The core of this class focuses on dynamic, full-bodied phrases that challenge spatial awareness and musicality. We will engage with solo, group and improvised tasks designed to strengthen real-time Choreography and authentic expression. Come ready to explore efficiency, expand your dynamic range, and deepen your physical intelligence.
