Choreographic Research & Contact Immersion with Soma Studios Julia Mckerrow

Rooted in an extensive history of choreographic research, this five-week intensive offers professional dancers a focused space for high-level physical training and shared inquiry. Weekly sessions integrate deep somatic awareness with rigorous, grounded movement and complex rhythmic dynamics.

Through sustained repetition and intricate group patterns, dancers build stamina, spatial awareness and collective sensitivity. This block places a strong emphasis on partnering and group work, with advanced contact practices exploring elevation, weight-sharing, momentum and the negotiation of shared space.

Designed for experienced dancers who are open to physical and collaborative challenge, the intensive supports the refinement of contact skills, the expansion of physical vocabulary, and the development of collective intelligence within a committed group practice.
