Breaking – Set Creation & Routine Development (U12)

This beginner-level breaking programme is designed to guide dancers through the creative process of building a complete set from the ground up.

Over the course of the term, participants will explore the foundations of breaking – top rocks, drops, footwork, transitions and freezes – while learning how to connect these elements into smooth, dynamic routines.

Through structured drills, guided improvisation and collaborative exercises, dancers will gain a deeper understanding of timing, rhythm and musical interpretation. The programme also emphasises performance quality, helping students develop character, confidence and stage presence. By the end of the programme, you won’t just know a routine – you’ll understand how a full breaking set is created, executed and performed.

You’ll leave with your own choreographed set that reflects your personal style and a stronger sense of how to express yourself confidently in cyphers, performances or battles.
